QUOTING HEAD COACH JEFF GARBUTT
“Day 1 of the Lake Wheeler Invite was a great challenge for the Hawks. With so many races, against teams we’ve raced this year, it was a chance to see our growth as we finish off the regular season. We had some really strong races in all five boats this morning, highlighted by our strong showing in the 2V4. In the afternoon session, we had to make a few unexpected lineup changes. Those affected accepted the challenge and gave their best effort considering the unexpected switches. I know this team will regroup and come back ready to race in the third and final round of racing. Go Hawks!”

QUOTING JUNIOR LILLY BEARDSLEY
“The energy from this morning carried over into this afternoon’s racing and we were excited for the opportunity to go up against some top teams. Each boat went out to the course with confidence and relaxation, which we’ve learned is essential for a good race. We’re making strides in the right direction. Overall, today was a great day for the Hawks.”

QUOTING SOPHOMORE KIMMY MARQUEZ
“Not only did we have fun today racing, but we also learned to stay together at higher ratings, and we maintained our length all throughout the races. I’m eager to see what tomorrow holds because I think we can spark our excitement again!”

QUOTING FRESHMAN EMMA RAYNER
“Some good, solid racing today! Really fun to find our speed against some fast crews. Excited for tomorrow as we look to keep improving and finding our limits.”

QUOTING FRESHMAN LAUREN ADAMS
“Every day is an opportunity for improvement. Every stroke we take, we get better. Iowa loves to race and we’re hungry for more.”
