COLUMBUS, OH – The University of Iowa women’s golf team finished tied for 13th at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate held on Ohio State’s Scarlet Course. The Hawkeyes shot a 314 in the final round, their lowest round of the tournament.
Leading the way for the Hawkeyes was junior Liz Bennett. Bennett entered the third round tied for 42nd place, after firing an even par 72 in the final round she finished in 22nd place with a 232 (81-79-72). Senior Laura Holmes finished in 51st place with a 241 (81-83-77). Freshman Virginie Bonfils tied for 72nd place with a 249, while junior Shannon Fleming finished a shot back with a 250, tying for 75th.
Texas won the team title with a team score of 893, after two of their players finished in the top seven. Allison Hanna won the individual title after winning in a three-person playoff.
The Hawkeyes will return to competition on Oct. 6 when they begin the Shootout at the Legends in Franklin, IN.
