The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and the University of Iowa will team up for Iowa Hawkeye Night at the RoughRiders’ game Saturday evening at 7:05 p.m. against the Sioux City Musketeers.
As part of the event the RoughRiders will wear special edition black and gold jerseys sporting the Hawkeye logo on the chest and the RoughRiders’ logo on the shoulders. Members of the University of Iowa Athletic Department, including Herky, will be on hand for Iowa Night and will be introduced to fans during the first intermission.
“We’re thrilled to be saluting the Hawkeyes and we’ll be excited to wear the black and gold,” said RoughRiders President and CEO Pat Forciea.

The RoughRiders compete in the tier I junior United States Hockey League. RoughRider players are amateurs who come to Cedar Rapids with the goal of going on to play Division I college hockey. In the five years since the team arrived in Cedar Rapids, better than 30 Riders have earned college scholarships.
“We are excited to be partnering with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders for a special Hawkeye evening,” said Rick Klatt, University of Iowa Associate Director of Athletics. “We are fortunate to have a great fan base in Cedar Rapids and this event allows us the opportunity to bring part of the excitement on the road.”
The jerseys worn by the RoughRiders in Saturday’s game will go up for bid in a silent auction to benefit the Iowa Athletic Department. RoughRiders Iowa Night replica jerseys will also be on sale at the RoughRiders merchandise stand Saturday evening.The RoughRiders are currently 17-6-1 and are tied for first place overall in the United States Hockey League.
Tickets for Saturday’s game — and all of the RoughRiders’ remaining games — are now on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or in person at the ice arena. The ticket office is open from noon to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days.
