Amoreena Reynolds Q&A

Dec. 22, 2003

What has surprised you most about the University of Iowa?
“Iowa is an amazing college town. With no professional sports teams, the University of Iowa athletes are looked upon as role models in the community. It’s fun to be someone that people know.”

Do you have any pre-match rituals or superstitions?
“My pre-game ritual is dancing with the girls in the locker room. For superstitions:, I always told my mother that I would wear a bow in my hair to always remind her and myself that I was playing for her with love.”

Where is your favorite place to play on the road?
“No one else’s home is as nice as your own, but if I had to choose I’d say Penn State. They have a nice size gym with good lighting.”

In her second match as a Hawkeye, Reynolds set the Iowa record for hitting percentage, hitting at an .800 clip (12-0-15).

Is there any significance attached to your uniform number?
“I’ve worn 26 since my freshman year in high school and I’m just not willing to give it up!”

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
“My grandpa told me one day in conversation ‘hun ya just have to suck it up and make the best of what’s given.’ I try to live by that every day.”

If you were on a deserted island, which of your teammates would you want to have with you and why?
“Man that’s a tough one, Echaka makes me laugh, Laura and I can talk for hours and Pam and I can’t stop talking about boys. I can’t choose!”

What is the most embarrassing item of clothing you have ever owned?
“Neon lime green stalkings (tights).”

What is your biggest pet peeve?
“My biggest pet peeve in the world is crumbs on the counter!”

If you could trade places for a day with anyone, who would it be?
“Jennifer Lopez. I would love to snuggle up with Bed Affleck for a day.”

What would the title of your autobiography be, if you were to write one?
“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!”
