Cedar Rapids native Rob Brooks will become the sideline announcer for Iowa football this fall. Brooks previously served as the broadcast producer of Iowa football broadcasts.
Brooks will replace Mark Allen who has given up the position to focus on other personal opportunities. Allen will continue his responsibilities as voice of Iowa women’s basketball. Brooks is the son of Iowa Hall of Fame broadcaster, Bob Brooks.
Brent Balbinot, currently the broadcast voice of Iowa baseball, will assume the role of broadcast producer for Iowa football.
Eric Buchanan, general manager of Hawkeye Sports Properties, a subsidiary of Learfield Communications, announced the changes today.
“We are thrilled Mark has decided to remain on the air with women’s basketball,” said Buchanan. “We are just as excited about having Rob Brooks join our on-the-air team on the sidelines. We expect the team of Gary Dolphin, Ed Podolak and Rob Brooks to be very exciting, entertaining and informative.”
