ANN ARBOR, MI – – The University of Iowa women’s golf team finished 13th in the 15-team 2004 Lady Northern Invitational held on the par-72 U-M Golf Course. Iowa carded a 54-hole score of 957.
Host school Michigan (881) won the tournament by four strokes over Missouri (885) after heading into today’s final round tied for the top spot. Missouri’s Maria Ohlsson (214) was the individual medalist winning the tournament by five strokes over teammate Denise Knaebel (219) and Michigan’s Laura Olin (219).
Shannon Fleming had an outstanding third round, vaulting from 59th after the second round to 33rd today. The senior carded a one-over par 73 to tie a career best and finished the tournament shooting a 232. Sophomore Amy Riepma tied for 61st place after stroking a 54-hole score of 242. Freshman Jill Marcum and senior Liz Bennett tied for 65th after shooting a 243.
The Hawkeyes have two weeks to prepare for their next tournament when Iowa hosts the Hawkeye Intercollegiate at Finkbine Golf Course, Sept. 24-26.
