Can it get any better for the friends of the Iowa Hawkeyes than the second weekend of September 2004?
That’s what I found myself thinking Sunday morning following the Saturday that saw Coach Kirk Ferentz’s Iowa football team claim its second straight victory of 2004 and its second in a row against intrastate rival Iowa State before another sellout crowd inside Kinnick Stadium.
That win was as important as any. It was Iowa’s school-record 14th in a row inside Kinnick. And, most notably, it was the final act in a weekend in Iowa City that also saw our intercollegiate athletics program take a huge step forward thanks to the generosity of Nancy and Bill Krause of West Des Moines and their family.
