Associate Director of Athletic Training
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION
The University of Iowa is seeking applicants and nominations for Associate Director of Athletic Training. The Associate Director will manage one of four on-campus training room facilities. The Associate Director of Athletic Training will work closely with the Director of Athletic Training Services, Director of Sports Medicine and the Director of Sports Rehabilitation to promote a comprehensive, integrated model for sports medicine care for University student-athletes. The Associate Director of Athletic Training will have sport coverage responsibilities to be determined and in that role will be asked to provide clinical supervision for curriculum students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. BOC certification in athletic training is necessary along with eligibility for Iowa state license. Must have demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and sports medicine standards of care, excellent organizational and communication skills, a history of successful leadership and/or implementing innovative processes, excellent self-motivation, a strong commitment to professional growth, and an interest in working in a team environment. Strong preference is given to candidates with full-time, professional experiences as follows: a) at least 5 years as an ATC, b) 3-5 years working with a diversity of intercollegiate teams, c) successful clinical supervision of athletic training students, d) summer sport camp co-ordination, and e) completion of Ph.D. Those with equivalent experiences (e.g. PT, PA, etc.) are encouraged to apply.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Full-time, 12-month annual appointment. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
