THIS WEEK — The women’s golf team will compete in the 19-team Lady Razorback Invitational Sunday-Tuesday, Oct. 17-19. The tournament will be held on the par-72 (6,015) Pinnacle Country Club Golf Course in Rogers, AR. The tournament consists of 54 holes, with 18 holes being played each day.

THE COMPETITION — The 19 teams competing include: Alabama, Arkansas, Augusta State, Illinois State, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oral Roberts, Southern Mississippi, Southwest Missouri State, Texas A&M, UTEP, Western Michigan and Wisconsin.

LADY RAZORBACK INVITATIONAL HISTORY — Arkansas has won three of the last six tournaments, including the last two. Minnesota won the tournament in 2001.

LINEUP — Competing for Iowa will be senior Liz Bennett, sophomores Amy Riepma and Karla Murra and freshmen Jill Marcum and Maggie Gelber.

IOWA VS. TOURNAMENT FIELD — Iowa has competed against nine schools that will be competing in the Lady Razorback Invitational. The Hawkeyes defeated SMS twice and beat Illinois State once. Iowa and Iowa State have split in its two meetings. Notre Dame, UTEP, Wisconsin, Missouri, Kansas and Michigan have all defeated the Hawkeyes once this fall.

LAST COMPETITION — Iowa placed third in the 11-team Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational. The Hawkeyes rallied to finish third after being in sixth place after 36 holes. In addition, Liz Bennett was crowned the individual medalist. The senior carded a 54-hole score of 230 to win the tournament by one stroke. Bennett entered the final round five strokes behind the co-leaders, but fired a tournament 18-hole low of 73 to help claim the title.

BENNETT ON FIRE — After a slow start to the season, Hawkeye senior Liz Bennett has placed first in Iowa’s last two tournaments. Bennett tied for first in the Hawkeye Intercollegiate and took home medalist honors at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational.

YOUTHFUL HAWKEYES — Four of Iowa’s five competitors in its last tournament were underclassmen (two freshmen, two sophomores). In fact, the same lineup will be featured in the Lady Razorback Invitational. In the last tournament, sophomores Karla Murra and Amy Riepma placed 24th and 32nd, respectively. Freshmen Jill Marcum and Maggie Gelber finished 27th and 33rd, respectively.
