IOWA CITY, IA – Iowa women’s track Head Coach James Grant has announced the addition of two recruits to the Hawkeye program. Jodyann Powell and Annabella Reid will join the team for the 2005-06 school year.
Powell, from Mandeville, Jamaica, will join the team as a sophomore. Her personal bests include 11.52 in the 100 meters and 24.20 in the 200 meters.
Reid is also a Jamacian native, but is enrolled at Whitefish Bay High School in Milwaukee, WI, this year and will join the Hawkeyes as a freshman. Her best 400-meter time is 53.56. She will also run the 200 meters at Iowa.
“Jodyann and Annabella are two solid additions to our sprint group,” said Grant. “We have been short of short sprinters, and Jodyann will fill that spot nicely for us. Annabella will be added to an already strong group of 400-meter runners, and make our 1,600-meter relay especially strong. These ladies are solid athletes and we are extremely happy that they signed with us. This speaks very well for the future of our team.”
