The University of Iowa men’s track and field team competed in the Carle/Health Alliance Classic held by the University of Illinois. The Hawkeyes placed third in team competition. Illinois led the way with 218.5 points, Georgia was next with 104, Iowa had 93, Wisconsin was fourth 57, and Syracuse scored 50.5 points.

Iowa’s Andy Banse was the lone Hawkeye champion in the meet. Banse set a collegiate best and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships with a shot put throw of 60-2. Also, ten Hawkeyes set collegiate best marks in their respective events.

Next Saturday the Hawkeyes will travel to Cedar Falls to compete in the University of Iowa Panther Classic.
