TAMPA, FL — The University of Iowa Women’s Golf team placed fourth in the rain-shortened Snowbird Intercollegiate played Friday at the par-72 Pebblecreek Country Club. Iowa finished with a team score of 315. Yale (305) won the tournament by four strokes over Big Ten rival Minnesota (309).
Sophomore Amy Riepma (Clear Lake, IA) paced the Hawkeyes with an 18-hole score of 77 to tie for ninth place. Freshman Jill Marcum (Clarinda, IA) carded a 78 to tie for 14th place, while senior Shannon Fleming (Murrieta, CA) tied for 21st after stroking a 79. There was a three-way tie for first place with Yale’s January Romero and Jessica Shapiro and Minnesota’s Terra Petsinger all shooting three-over par (75).
The Hawkeyes return to action in two weeks when Iowa competes in the Indiana Invitational, April 2-3 in Bloomington, IN.
