The University of Iowa track and field team wrapped up competition today in the 96th Annual Drake Relays. Two Hawkeyes earned medals in individual events and one women’s relay team took bronze.

In the 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Tiffany Johnson finished in sixth place with a time of 13.88, which qualifies her for the NCAA Regional meet. The 4×100 meter relay of Johnson, Kineke Alexander, Ashley Granger, and Peaches Roach ran to a 45.30 time in the finals, good enough for seventh place and a spot in the NCAA meet, as well.

Senior Chris Voller set a new collegiate best with a third-place finish in the hammer throw with a hurl of 203-1. Voller also qualified for the NCAA Regional Meet as well with the throw.

In a special heat of the 400 meter open, freshman standout Kineke Alexander finished in a time of 54.94. Peaches Roach jumped to a bronze medal in a special flight of the high jump by clearing 5-9.75. Also, senior Andy Banse tossed 61-2.75 in his special flight of the shot put. Alexander, Roach, and Banse all qualified for the NCAA Regional meet in their respective events.

The Hawkeyes next compete in the 2005 Big Ten Outdoor Championships hosted by Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, on May 13-15.
