The Iowa men’s track and field team completed day one action in the NCAA Midwest Regional track meet last night at the University of Oklahoma. Seniors Ken Kemeny and Tim Brodersen both picked up medals for the Hawkeyes, securing 12th place in team scoring with six points. Kansas led the field with 24 points.

Kemeny earned the silver medal in the shot put with a collegiate best throw of 62-3. Brodersen picked up the bronze medal in the discus with a toss of 179-01. The Hawks had four other athletes compete during the day; two in field events and two in the 5,000-meter run.

Today, two more seniors will compete for the Hawkeyes. Tony Rakaric will run and jump his way through the 3,000-meter steeplechase and Chris Voller will try his luck in the hammer throw.
