IOWA CITY –The University of Iowa women’s golf team placed first for the second year in a row at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate on Sunday at Finkbine Golf Course. The Hawkeyes won with 922 strokes followed by Southwest Missouri State University with a score of 959.
In her first collegiate outing, freshman Tyrette Metzendorf (Winter Haven, FL) placed first with a score of 220 (+1). Sophomore Melanie Boyles (Tempe, AZ) came in second with 229 (+10). Junior Amy Riepma (Clear Lake, IA) tied for third with a total score of 231 (+12). After finishing in 28th at the end of two rounds yesterday, Junior Karla Murra (Sioux Falls, SD), jumped to finish in 15th place after firing a 77 today.
Next week Iowa will travel to East Lansing, MI, for the Mary Fossum Invitational.
