NEW HAWKEYES — Freshman Tyrette Metzendorf was the medalist, last weekend at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate with a one over par 220. Metzendorf posted a low round of 71 in the second round. She held the lead all three rounds. Her score of 220 puts her in the school record books tying for second place as the best individual score for 54-holes.
QUOTING HEAD COACH Bobbe Carney — “I am most excited about our team’s stroke average which has dropped 12 or 13 strokes over last year. The returning players have accomplished good things over the summer and I commend them for that. We are far ahead of where we were last year. Finkbine has some challenging greens and it bodes well for the team that they did so well. We will be facing stiffer competition this weekend. But we have a strong start to the season.”
