ORONO, ME — The 10th-ranked University of Iowa men’s country team placed third at the Murray Keatinge Invitational hosted by the University of Maine. The 8,000-meter race which started at the Maine practice fields and finished at Alford Stadium track was won by No. 5 Stanford who finished with a total team score of 26 points. No. 10 Iowa also performed very well finishing third with a team score of 66 points.
Junior Jeff Kent led Iowa individually with 11th place finish and a time of 24:28. Dan Haut (24:32, 12th) and Eric MacTaggart (24:32, 13th) were not far behind with 12th and 13th place finishes. Adam Roche (24:32, 14th), Micah VanDenend (24:33, 16th), Matt Esche (24:52, 21st), Alex Webster (25:23, 34th), Alan Jackson (25:24, 37th), Blake Schlotzhauer (25:28, 39th) and Heath Moenck (27:03, 71st) also competed for the Hawkeyes.
Iowa is scheduled to compete next on October 15 at the Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, IN.
