TERRE HAUTE, IN — The University of Iowa Women’s Cross Country team placed 13th out of 35 teams at the NCAA Pre-Nationals hosted by the Indiana State University. The 6,000-meter race held at LaVern Gibson Championship course was won by No. 3 Stanford who finished with a total team score of 86 points. Iowa finished the race with 401 points.
Sophomore Meghan Armstrong (22nd, 20:49) led Iowa and finished 22nd out of 232 runners. Nikki Chapple (69th, 21:40), Racheal Marchand (72nd, 21:41) and Shannon Stanley (99th, 21:58) all finished the top 100. Molly Esche (139th, 22:27) and Jessica Schmidt (177th, 22:54) also competed for the Hawkeyes.
Iowa is scheduled to compete next on October 30, at the Big Ten Championships in Minneapolis, MN.
