Iowa Places Fourth At Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, IN — The 14th-ranked University of Iowa Men’s Cross Country team placed fourth out of 34 teams at the NCAA Pre-Nationals hosted by the Indiana State University. The 8,000-meter race held at LaVern Gibson Championship course was won by No. 3 Colorado who finished with a total team score of 70 points. No. 14 Iowa also performed very well finishing with a team score of 193 points.

Sophomore Eric MacTaggart (22nd, 24:17) led Iowa and finished 22nd out of 229 runners. Jeff Kent (36th, 24:30), Micah VanDenend (38th, 24:34) and Dan Haut (42nd, 24:36) all ran well and placed in the top 50. Adam Roche (55th, 24:45), Matt Esche (88th, 25:06) and Alan Jackson (218th, 27:06) also competed for the Hawkeyes.

Iowa is scheduled to compete next on October 30, at the Big Ten Championships in Minneapolis, MN.
