THIS WEEK — The Iowa men’s golf team will head out to Dublin, OH, to compete at the Kepler Intercollegiate Saturday and Sunday. The two-day event is hosted by Ohio State at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
The 15-team tournament field, which consists of nine Big Ten teams, includes Ohio State, Ball State, Indiana, Marshall, Miami (OH), Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue, Akron, Illinois, Michigan, Toledo, Wisconsin, Xavier and Iowa. There will be 36 holes played Saturday and 18 Sunday. Saturday will being with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Sunday will finish with tee times starting at 8 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT — The Iowa men’s golf team failed for just the third time this season to place in the top five at the Marshall Invitational. The Hawkeyes finished tied for eighth place. The Hawkeyes carded a three round score of 887(+35) for the tournament. Senior co-captain Brian deBuhr captured his second top 10 of the season and third best finish of his career by tying for sixth at the Marshall Invitational. He finished with a three round total of 216 (+3) and tied a season and career low with a 70 in his second round.
MUIRFIELD VILLAGE — The Iowa men’s golf team has the special oppurtunity, due to construction on Ohio State’s home course, to play at the Muirfield Village Golf Club. Designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus, the couse has been rated as high as second in the nation in Golfweek magazine among modern courses. It also hosts the Jack Nicklaus Memorial Tournament for the PGA Tour annually. The course is par 72 and 7,221 yards long.
