University of Iowa sophomore Ryan Niver completed five events of the decathlon today in the 3rd Annual Audrey Walton Combined Events competition. The decathlon is part of the larger Tom Botts Invitational being hosted by Missouri this Friday and Saturday.
After two running events and three field events, Niver sits in tenth place with 3,558 points. Darius Draudvila leads the field of 19 competitors with 4,229 points. Niver’s highest finish of the day came in the high jump when he cleared 6’6″ for third place.
The decathlon competition resumes tomorrow with the 110 meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and 1,500 meter run. All events will be held at Walton Stadium on the Missouri campus and live results can be found at http://www.tickertiming.com/2006/walton/.
