University of Iowa Interim President designate Gary Fethke today named a search committee charged with identifying and screening candidates for the position of director of athletics. Current UI Athletic Director Bob Bowlsby has announced he will be taking the same position at Stanford University.
Fethke also announced the hiring of Baker Parker and Associates, Inc. of Atlanta, a firm specializing in executive searches for higher education and collegiate athletics.
“We have a successful program that is financially stable, and we expect that there will be keen interest in the position. For that reason, we are moving ahead with a search for a permanent successor to Bob Bowlsby. We will appoint an interim AD if the search does not proceed expeditiously.” Fethke said. “We are quite simply looking for the most qualified candidate available to fill our attractive AD position. The credentials of all qualified applicants who apply will receive serious consideration.
“I am pleased that we have been able to assemble a search committee that represents an excellent mix of alumni, as well as faculty and staff who have experience working with our athletic department,” he added.
