IOWA CITY, IA – University of Iowa Diving Coach Bob Rydze has been named chairman of U.S. Diving’s Competition Committee for Excellence (CCE), which is the most powerful committee in the organization.

As chairman of the five-member committee, Rydze will oversee all domestic and international diving competitions, and set selection procedures for all international trips and U.S. Olympic trials. He will also serve as Vice President of U.S. Diving and join its Board of Directors.

“I realize the heavy responsibility that U.S. Diving has given me,” said Rydze. “I’m going to serve as chairman and do my best.”

Rydze, in his 32nd year at Iowa, served as U.S. team leader for the FINA/USA Diving Grand Prix in Florida in May and at the FINA World Cup in China last month. He also represented USA Diving at the High Performance Summit April 21-27 in Beijing, China. His duties included surveying Olympic venues and meeting with the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games.
