THIS WEEK– The Iowa women’s golf team travels to Fort Myers, FL, Monday and Tuesday to compete in the GSU/Pelican Preserve Invitational. The 54-hole tournament will be held at the par-72 Pelican Preserve Golf Club. Teams will play 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. (EDT) shotgun start each day. This is the last tournament of the fall season.

THE COMPETITION– The 15 competing teams include: Iowa, College of Charleston, Daytona Beach C.C., Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia State, Jacksonville, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Minnesota, Middle Tennessee State, Ole Miss, Texas Tech and South Florida.

LINEUP– Competing for the Hawkeyes will be Melanie Boyles, Jill Marcum, Tyrette Metzendorf, Karla Murra and Amy Riepma. This is the same squad that competed in the Shootout at The Legends.

LAST COMPETITION– Iowa finished eighth at the 18-team Shootout at the Legends Invitiational. Iowa carded a low round of 296 and finished with a total of 909. The team’s first round score of 296 was the only time this season they carded below 300 in a single round. Junior Jill Marcum tied for 22nd to lead the Hawkeyes with a 226 (+10).

JILL MARCUM– The Shootout at the Legends marked the second consecutive tournament Marcum led Iowa. She finished fifth at the Lady Irish Invite. Marcum also leads the Hawkeyes in scoring average (76.8).

SENIORS– With no seniors on the 2005-06 roster, this year’s seniors are making a big impact. Riepma and Murra have each led the Hawkeyes in two of the last four tournaments.
