IOWA CITY – Freshman Frank Van Dijkhuizen has been named Big Ten Diver of the Week for his efforts against Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Milwaukee last week.
Van Dijkhuizen, a native of Amsterdam, won the one-meter diving with 283.0 and followed that with a win on the three-meter board with a score of 322.90. Van Dijkhuizen was competing in his first events as a Hawkeye.
Van Dijkhuizen is the first Iowa men’s diver to earn Big Ten Diver of the Week since Timo Klami received the honor three times during the 2003-04 season.
The Hawkeyes will be in action Friday, when they travel to Minnesota.
