The University of Iowa men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Big Ten Championships today in Bloomington, IN for the Big Ten Championships. The women raced in a 6,000-meter race, while the men raced in the 8,000-meter race.
The Wisconsin Badgers left the Big Ten Championships as Big Ten Champions scoring 27 points. Outscoring the second place team by nearly 60 points. Individual winner for the men’s race was Chris Rombough from Minnesota finishing the course with a time of 24:05. The Hawkeyes were led to a fifth place finish by senior Micah VanDenend (3rd, 24:20). Junior Eric MacTaggart (10th, 24:44), senior Jeff Kent (33rd, 25:29), sophomore Blake Schlotzhauer (40th, 25:40), sophomore Andy Napier (58th, 26:07) and red shirt freshman Tommy Tate (75th, 27:02) also ran for the Hawkeyes.
