Bloomington, IN – The University of Iowa men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Big Ten Championships today in Bloomington, IN for the Big Ten Championships. The women raced in a 6,000-meter race, while the men raced in the 8,000-meter race.
Erin Webster of Michigan paced the way in the women’s race placing first and posting a time of 20:23. This individual win helped Michigan secure a Big Ten Championship title. The Iowa women placed sixth in the Big Ten with junior Meghan Armstrong leading the way. Armstrong finished eighth with a time of 20:54. Other Hawkeye runners were junior Racheal Marchand (12th, 21:05), junior Diane Nukuri (16th, 21:16), freshman Krista Anderson (35th, 22:09), freshman Jolly Burke (42nd, 22:26), junior Jessica Schmidt (52nd, 22:44), senior Shannon Stanley (59th, 22:53), junior Molly Esche (60th, 22:56), and freshman Chrissy Schaefer (68th, 23:18).
