IOWA CITY, IA – The Big Ten office has released the 2006 nominees for the Big Ten cross country Sportsmanship Award. There were 21 student-athletes announced as nominees. These 21 student-athletes will be candidates for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award that honors one male and one female student-athlete from each school at the end of the year.
Senior Jeff Kent and junior Racheal Marchand were both announced as Iowa’s nominees for the cross country teams. Kent’s efforts at the Big Ten Championships meet helped the Hawkeyes to a fifth place finish. Kent also represents the Hawkeyes as one of its co-captains. Marchand helped the women’s team to a sixth place finish in the Big Ten.
Both the men and the women’s cross country teams will return to action November 11th, at the Midwest regional championships.
