INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Division I Men and Women’s Track and Field committee announced the at-large bids for teams qualifying for the NCAA cross country championship meet. This committee chose an additional 13 teams from the 9 different regions to join the already qualified teams. The Iowa men and women’s cross country teams each received an at-large bid and will compete in the NCAA championship meet.
The men’s cross country team placed third scoring 121 points at the regional meet. The Hawkeyes third place finish over Big Ten rival Minnesota and intrastate rival Iowa State helped them earn an at large bid.
Iowa women’s cross country team also placed third scoring 118 points. The Hawkeyes finished with three runners in the top ten at the regional meet. This strong team effort by the Hawkeyes guided their way to a spot in the NCAA championship meet.
The NCAA championship meet will be on Monday, November, 20th in Terre Haute, IN. The races will be held at the LeVern Gibson Championship Course. The women’s 6,000-meter race will begin at n12:00 p.m. ET, while the men’s 10,000-meter race will be begin at 1:15 p.m. ET.
