IOWA CITY — The UI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is celebrating success in the classroom by offering free admission to select upcoming home games of the UI’s men’s and women’s basketball teams to high school, junior high school and elementary students achieving at a high level academically.
High school and junior high school students who received an “A” on their most recent report card will receive a complimentary ticket to one of the next two home games of Coach Steve Alford’s Iowa men’s basketball team or two upcoming games of Coach Lisa Bluder’s Iowa women’s basketball team by presenting a copy of their report card at the UI Athletic Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Students have four events to choose from: One of the men’s basketball games Wednesday, Dec. 20, against Georgia State and Saturday, Dec. 23, against Texas Southern or one of the Iowa women’s basketball team’s games against nationally ranked Ohio State on Dec. 31, or Michigan State on Jan. 14.
Elementary-aged students are also eligible for complimentary tickets. Those students simply need to present a copy of their most recent progress report or report card. They can choose to attend any of the four men’s and women’s basketball games already noted.
In addition to enjoying a home game of the Hawkeyes inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena, one lucky fan of the UI’s men’s basketball or women’s basketball team will win a new home computer system*. The winner’s name will be drawn from all report cards and progress reports received, and announced at halftime of the Iowa-Michigan State women’s basketball game.
