Minneapolis, MN – The University of Iowa women’s swimming team competed in the final day of competition at the 2007 Big Ten Championships on Saturday, hosted by the University of Minnesota. After the third finals round the Hawkeyes finished in 10th place scoring 108 points. Big Ten Champions were the Indiana Hoosiers with 715.5 points.
Sophomore Ashley Dell finished 18th in the 1,650 free swimming to a season-best time of 17:03.56. Freshman Christine Kuczek had a season-best of 50.74 in the 100 free prelims and a 50.98 in the finals, for a 12th place finish. In the 200 fly freshman Margie Chamberlin posted a season-best of 2:02.24 in prelims and 2:03.22 in the finals, for a 15th place finish. The Hawkeyes kept the season-bests going in the 400 free medley where Kuczek, Robin Samples, Julie deBruin, and Emily Hoefler placed eighth in a time of 3:26.35.
The Hawkeyes return to action when they host the Iowa Senior Championships March 2-4.
