How many reasons does a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes need to find their way to Carver-Hawkeye Arena Thursday night for a very rare college basketball doubleheader?
Well, let’s see.
The opportunity to cheer a pair of UI teams to important victories over Big Ten Conference opponents is one.
The opportunity for late-to-the-party decision-makers/ticket buyers to see the two games for the Mother-Nature-Made-Us-Do-It bargain basement price of $15 is another….unless, of course, if one of the late takers is high school aged or younger. Fans of the Hawkeyes that age will check out Steve Alford’s squad and Lisa Bluder’s Hawkeyes for just $10.
How about the chance to win a pair of tickets to the 2007 Iowa football team’s game next September in Ames? Or, the opportunity to win a pair of outdoor club seat tickets to the home game of your choice of Kirk Ferentz’s 2007 squad?
Does the chance to win those opportunities get youGetting closer to moving off the couch and joining thousands of other fans of the Hawkeyes at Carver-Hawkeye Arena Thursday night? The Iowa men’s team squares off against Northwestern at 6 p.m. Bluder’s Bunch entertains Illinois at 8 p.m.
How about a pair of tickets to the Iowa football team’s 2007 home opener against Syracuse or the dual meet between Coach Tom Brands’ nationally ranked Iowa wrestling team and Minnesota Sunday in the Arena?
“We know Mother Nature and the resulting juggling of the competitive schedule for Steve and Lisa’s teams have created a little chaos for many of our fans, so we’d like to give them a little more than just a pair of great Big Ten basketball games,” explained UI Director of Athletics Gary Barta.
Barta said the UI will reward 100 fans in attendance for the two basketball games Thursday night with a little extra for their effort to juggle their personal schedules and find their way to the Arena on Thursday.
“It’s one small way for us to say thanks to our fans for helping us find a solution to a logistics challenge that included three different basketball teams, game officials and thousands of fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes,” he said.
Barta said the UI will reward 100 randomly-selected fans in attendance during the four-plus hours of college basketball Thursday night for the extra effort they made to juggle their personal schedules and find their way to the Arena to cheer the Hawkeyes.
“These are important games for our teams, so, as always, it’s important to have our “sixth player” in the Arena,” he said.
Tickets to the game can be purchased at the UI Athletic Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday. Fans can also order by phone by calling 1-800 IA-HAWKS or online by clicking HERE.
