Hawkeyes Earn Team All-Academic Honors

Feb. 26, 2007

Iowa City, IA – The University of Iowa women’s cross country team continues to add to the list of accomplishments for the 2006 season with team all-academic honors. The Hawkeyes compiled a team cumulative GPA of 3.16. This is the fourth consecutive all-academic award for the women’s cross country team.

In order to receive this honor, teams must compete in an NCAA regional meet and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Iowa competed this fall in the Midwest regional meet, finishing third place as Diane Nukuri won the individual title. The third place finish helped the Hawkeyes clinch a spot in the NCAA Championship meet.

“To win a fourth consecutive all-academic award is outstanding,” commented Head Coach Layne Anderson. “Our commitment as a program is to succeed in every area of our lives. To couple this with our 17th place finish at the NCAA Championships last fall really puts the icing on a very successful season.”
