THIS WEEK The Iowa women’s golf team travels to Austin, TX, Friday thru Sunday to compete in the 54-hole Lady Longhorn Invitational. The competing teams will play 18-holes each day on the par-71 University of Texas Golf Club. There will be a 9 a.m. (CDT) start each day.

THE COMPETITION The 14 competing teams are: Iowa, Texas, Arkansas, Purdue, Iowa State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, Notre Dame, Penn State, SMU, TCU, Baylor and Oklahoma.

LINEUP The tentative lineup for the Hawkeyes is Melanie Boyles, Jill Marcum, Tyrette Metzendorf, Karla Murra and Amy Riepma.

LIVE SCORING Live scoring is available online at golfstat.com. The official tournament name is The Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational.

LAST TIME OUT Iowa is currently (Tuesday-Wednesday) competing in the UNLV Invitational. This competition will conclude March 14. Results will be posted on hawkeyesports.com.

Karla Murra Murra led Iowa in two of the five fall tournaments. At the first and final tournaments of the fall, she finished second (228, 217). Murra is second on the team in scoring average, with a 77. Her 217 in the final tournament of the spring etched her name in Iowa’s record book for best 54-hole performance.

SENIORS This year’s seniors are making a big impact. Riepma and Murra have each led the Hawkeyes in three of five fall tournaments.

NEXT COMPETITION Iowa’s next competition is March 26-27 at the Anteater Invitational in Coto de Caza, CA.
