THIS WEEK — The Iowa women’s golf team travels to Columbus, OH, to compete at the 54-hole Lady Buckeye Invitational, April 21-22. The meet is hosted by Ohio State University at the par-72 Ohio State Golf Club. The teams will play 36-holes Saturday and 18-holes Sunday. There will be a 8:30 a.m. (CDT) shotgun start each day.
THE COMPETITION — The 13 competing teams include: Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Toledo, Ohio University, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Western Michigan and Wisconsin.
LINEUP — The tentative lineup for the Hawkeyes will be Maggie Gelber, Jill Marcum, Tyrette Metzendorf, Karla Murra, Amy Riepma and Melanie Boyles.

LAST TIME OUT — At the Indiana Invite, Iowa finished 10th (17 teams). The Hawkeyes posted a 624 after playing 36-holes in Carmel, IN. After ending day one tied for 30th, Marcum posted a 73 to finish tied for ninth (151 +7). It was her best finish this spring.
SENIORS — The 2007 seniors are making a big impact. Murra has led the Hawkeyes in five tournaments and Riepma has led Iowa in one. Murra’s 217 in the final tournament of the spring etched her name in Iowa’s record book for best 54-hole performance.
QUOTING HEAD COACH Kelly Crawford — “This tournament is our last chance to get a look at some Big Ten teams before the Big Ten Championships. A strong performance this weekend will prepare us for the strong field we are going to face at the end of the month.”
NEXT COMPETITION — Iowa competes at the Big Ten Championships April 26-27.
