Sports Marketing Coordinator

The University of Iowa, a NCAA Division I-A institution and member of the Big Ten Conference, is currently seeking a self-motivated and creative individual dedicated to assist in the marketing of all men’s and women’s sports.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, develop and execute marketing plans for intercollegiate athletics to increase awareness and ticket sales; coordinate and assist with game day promotions; work closely with coaches to develop and implement marketing plans; assist with special events and servicing of corporate sponsors; assist in programming and running the state-of-the-art Daktronics matrix boards and on-court signage units; contribute and maintain editorial content on the department’s world wide web site; maintain select pages of the department’s intranet; design and create promotional flyers; coordinate Junior Hawk Club membership and activities; assist in training of student staff, volunteer staff and department interns; assist in the production of promotional materials; initiate and process requisitions and voucher invoices; assist with maintaining confidential office files; direct, screen and handle incoming departmental calls; assist with day-to-day office operations and other duties as assigned. Forty office hours per week plus event hours. Some evening, weekend, and holiday hours are required.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in athletic administration, marketing, or another related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and computer skills; ability to assume a variety of responsibilities required. Preferred Qualifications: Six months to one year experience in the administration of marketing, promotions or sales programs in collegiate, professional athletics or minor league sector; some knowledge of University accounting, policies and procedures and experience in web page development are desirable.

Terms of Employment
The full-time, 12-month appointment to begin mid-July, 2007 with full University benefits.

Compensation
$27,000 to commensurate based upon selected candidate’s education and experience.
