Families, friends and fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes – young and old – are invited to the second annual “Meet the Legends” event next Saturday (June 9th) at the Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame and Museum.
“Meet the Legends” is an annual summer activity of the National Iowa Varsity Club and it includes the first public announcement of the 2007 class of inductees into the National Varsity Club Hall of Fame. The National Iowa Varsity Club is dedicated to promoting, preserving and protecting the accomplishments and memories of the men and women who have competed on all varsity athletic venues for the University of Iowa.
The announcement of the 2007 Hall of Fame class will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Roy G. Karro Hall of Fame and Visitor’s Center. Speakers at the event will be Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta, Hawkeye men’s Basketball Coach Todd Lickliter and women’s Golf Coach Kelly Crawford.
More than 70 current and former UI coaches and student-athletes participated in last year’s inaugural event. All former student-athletes, in addition to current members of the UI administrative and coaching staffs and current student-athletes in attendance will be available for photographs and autographs at 3 p.m.
The announcement of the 2007 inductees into the Hall of Fame will be made at 2:30 p.m.
The “Meet the Legends” event is open to the public at no charge and includes access to the Athletics Hall of Fame and Museum. Doors open at 8 a.m.
