New Year Nears, So Does the New Big Ten Network

The start of the 2007 college football season is approach fast, very fast. And, as a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Big Ten Conference, you’re probably wondering if your local cable television operator is carrying the new Big Ten Network.

What can fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes expect to see on the new Big Ten Network? Of the 400 or so events to be broadcast by the new television home of the Big Ten – a schedule that already includes Iowa’s 2007 home opener Sept. 8 against Syracuse – UI officials expect as many as 50 events involving the Iowa Hawkeyes to be available for fans nationwide . And, included in that 50 is likely to be as many as four UI football games, 17 men’s basketball games, five women’s basketball games and three wrestling matches.

Fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes will also see volleyball matches, field hockey matches, women’s soccer matches, baseball games and softball games involving Iowa in addition to editions of “Iowa Football with Kirk Ferentz,” “Iowa Basketball with Todd Lickliter,” “The Lisa Bluder Show,” replays of “Classic” Iowa victories, weekly press conferences, features on current UI student-athletes and much more.

Friends of the UI, alumni and future students of the UI will also enjoy more than 60 hours of programming dedicated to what makes the University of Iowa a leader among its peers – the arts, the cutting-edge research, the academic excellence.
