IOWA CITY – Head Coach Cindy Fredrick and the University of Iowa volleyball team have announced three dates for its “Little Spikers” mini-camp. Girls and boys ages 5-11 are invited to join.
The “Little Spikers” is chance for young Hawkeye fans to be taught volleyball basics by the Iowa coaches and players, using special lightweight training balls and a lower net. The “Little Spikers” will demonstrate their skills following game two of the final home match November 17 against Michigan State.
“This is a great tradition that we have started at Iowa,” Fredrick said. “The players love it and it’s a chance for us to do something for the community. We truly enjoy this program.”
The three practice sessions will take place September 22 from 9-10 a.m. at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, November 3 from 9-10 a.m. at a location to be determined and November 17 from 9-10 a.m. at a location to be determined.
Registration is $15, which includes all three sessions and a “Little Spikers” T-shirt. Pre-registration along with a signed medical waiver is encouraged, but same day registration is accepted. The medical waiver and registration form can be found on the volleyball page of hawkeyesports.com.
