COLUMBUS, OH – Sophomores Frank VanDijkhuizen, Michael Gilligan, and Deidre Freeman were in Columbus, OH today for the first day of the NCAA Diving Zone C Qualifying meet. This meet represents the divers’ only chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The men jumped off the three-meter board; the women competed on the one-meter board.
Van Dijkhuizen qualified for the finals with a score of 300.10 in the prelims and took 12th place with a score 297.00 in the finals for a total of 597.10. Gilligan’s score of 260.15 in the prelims did not qualify for the finals.
Freeman scored 244.90 and qualified 13th in the prelims and finished in 17th place with a finals mark of 234.50 for a total of 479.40.
Tomorrow, competition will feature the men on the one-meter board and the women on the three-meter board.
