AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND – University of Iowa freshman swimmer Verity Hicks is in her home country of New Zealand participating in the 2008 Olympic trials until March 30. Hicks swam in the finals of the 800 freestyle today and finished in fifth place. The meet also included a fifth place finish in the 400 freestyle and an eighth place finish in the 200. The top two swimmers under the qualifying time for each event qualify for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.
