BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION
The University of Iowa is seeking applicants and nominations for Athletic Trainer. In addition to serving as an Athletic Trainer, working closely with the Director of Athletic Training Services and Associate Directors of Athletic Training Services, the selected applicant will work closely with the team physicians and extended sports medicine staff regarding the care and management of injuries and illnesses. Specific sport assignments to be determined by Director of Athletic Training Services, Director of UI Sports Medicine Center, and Director of Athletics. This position has Approved Clinical Instructor and supervision responsibilities for athletic training students in The University of Iowa’s accredited undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience and certification as B.O.C. Athletic Trainer is required. Eligibility for Iowa state athletic trainer license. Must have demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and sports medicine standards of care, excellent organizational and supervisory skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent self-motivation, a strong commitment to professional growth, demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment and an interest in working in a comprehensive sports medicine environment. Some (6 months to one year) related NCAA athletic training experience is required.Preferred Qualifications: Strong preference will be given to candidates with experiences as follows: a) completion of accredited undergraduate athletic training curriculum en route to certification, b) 2-5 years of N.C.A.A. Division 1 athletic training health care service, c) current Approved Clinical Instructor (A.C.I.), d) completion of master’s degree, and e) candidates that can most effectively meet the current needs of the Iowa Athletic Training Program.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Full-time, 12-month annual appointment with full University benefits. Salary $32,157/year to commensurate.
