The University of Iowa Department of Intercollegiate Athletics invites applications for the position of Athletic Equipment Manager. This is a 12-month position, 75% time, with full University benefits.
Responsibilities: Direct the daily operations of athletic equipment room (baseball, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s track and cross country, men’s and women’s tennis, assist with football and other sports) within the guidelines specified by the University of Iowa and the NCAA; provide assistance to coaches in the requisition, location, disposition and utilization of athletic equipment; perform necessary repairs and adjustments on equipment to ensure proper condition and fit; maintain inventory control of athletic supplies and equipment; assist with hiring, training and supervising hourly student workers; other duties as assigned. This position requires occasional weekend and flexible hours.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Other required qualifications include: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in computer software applications; and a proven commitment to high ethical standards. Desired qualifications: Some (6 months to one year) experience in the operation of an athletic equipment room and some knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and University policies, procedures and regulations.
