ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

The University of Iowa Athletics Department seeks applications for Director of Player Development-Football. This is a 12-month position with full University benefits; salary commensurate.

Responsibilities:
Serve as academic liaison with the Office of Athletics Student Services; develop and implement a progressive life skills program in conjunction with Athletics Student Services; improve and expand mentoring program; oversee class attendance; oversee training table meal attendance in accordance with institutional, Big Ten and NCAA rules; oversee curfew checks; assist with the Summer Jobs Program; identify legitimate employment opportunities, match and refer students, monitor and counsel as needed; assist with admissions process; assist with first-year housing; assist in the acclimatization of first-year and transfer student-athletes to local living environment; serve as liaison with football alumni and NFL players; assist with on-campus recruiting and the on-campus assessment of prospective student-athletes; represent the program at professional, civic, charitable and alumni events as requested; collaborate with coaches and administrative staff within the intercollegiate athletics program to enhance overall departmental operations; other duties assigned by the head football coach and/or Associate Director of Athletics for Student Services and Compliance.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Other required qualifications: Superior written and oral communication skills; some (6 months to 1 year) administrative and program experience; demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment; proficiency in computer software applications; and a demonstrated commitment to adhering to all policies, rules and regulations of the University of Iowa, the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA required. Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree. Some (6 months – 1 year) working directly with high school or undergraduate students (under-represented populations) in an academic or other organized settings; some knowledge of University policies, procedures and regulations. Preference will be given to candidates that can most effectively meet the player development needs of the Iowa football program.
