Hawkeyes Finish Strong in Minnesota

ST. PAUL, MN – The Hawkeye men’s team placed ninth overall with 255 points this weekend at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. Twenty-five Division-I teams from all around the country competed with the Hawkeyes in an 8,000 meter race. The winning school was Adams State.

Iowa’s top finisher was junior Jesse Luciano (14th, 24:40). Senior co-captain Eric MacTaggart (54th, 25:25) and sophomore Sam Bailin (55th, 25:27) finished back-to-back and were the second and third best Iowa times, respectively. Other notable Hawkeye finishes include sophomore Mark Battista (64th, 25:34) and senior co-captain Andy Napier (68th, 25:37). The individual top finisher was junior Elkanah Kibet (23:56) from Auburn.

The men and women Hawkeye teams will compete in the Auburn Invite on Oct. 4.
