Oct. 6, 2008

IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa volleyball team will host its annual “Attacking Breast Cancer” night Saturday, when the Hawkeyes take on Indiana at 7 p.m. inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Fans of Iowa volleyball will have numerous ways to participate in this special event.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink. Those wearing pink can register to win many different prizes. Pink poms will also be distributed to the first 500 fans. Senior libero Emily Hiza will be wearing a pink jersey and the team will warm-up with two pink volleyballs. The pink jersey and volleyballs will then be autographed by Head Coach Sharon Dingman and donated to the Blue Rose Gala event, hosted by the Holden Cancer Comprehensive Research Center in April. The entire team will be available for autographs after the match.

Tickets for Saturday’s match are $3, with children 18 and under free. The U of I Department of Athletics will donate $1 from every ticket sold at the door to the Holden Cancer Comprehensive Research Center.

Fans who would like to make an additional donation to the Holden Cancer Comprehensive Research Center can make checks payable to the UI Foundation and reference Holden Cancer Center on the check. Donations can be mailed to the UI Foundation at the following address.
