IOWA CITY, IA – Iowa junior Deidre Freeman has been named Big Ten Diver of the Week after posting a strong performance in both springboard events at Minnesota last week. Freeman exceeded the NCAA standards in the one-meter competition, scoring a 289.50. She also took first in the three-meter with a score of 256.95. The Grinnell, IA native has consistently been strong in both events throughout the season. Freeman is currently undefeated in the one-meter and has taken first in all three-meter events except one. This is Freeman’s first Big Ten Diver of the Week honor and the first for the Hawkeyes in more than three years. The last Iowa diver to receive the award was Nancilea Underwood in 2005.
