Day Two Brings New Collegiate Bests

CEDAR FALLS, IA – The Hawkeyes were showing prime form in Saturday’s day two action at the Jack Jennet Invite, posting collegiate and season bests in various events. The University of Iowa’s two junior heptathletes, Dan Rolling (3rd, 4909 pts.) and Frank Prill (7th, 4784), finished their series of events that were started on day one of the Invite. Rolling posted collegiate bests in the overall heptathlon, as well as the 60-meter hurdles (1st, 8.54), the 1,000-meter run (2:43.10), and tied a collegiate best in the Pole Vault (7th, 11-09.75).

Senior Renee White won the women’s 60-meter hurdles (8.91) with a new season best as well as posting a season best in the 200-meter dash (5th, 26.51). Sophomore James Paul won the mile (4:18.70) earning a new season best time while sophomore Mark Battista posted a new collegiate best time of 4:26.33. Junior Alex Zona also tied a collegiate best in the pole vault (15-7.75).

The Hawkeyes will split competition between two meets for the weekend of Feb. 6-7. The men’s throwers will head to New York for the New Balance Invitational at the Armory Track. The men’s shot put is set for 2:45 p.m. Friday and the men’s weight throw will be at 12:15 p.m. Saturday. The rest of the team will compete at the Meyo Invite in South Bend, IN. Events are set to start at 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday, and will be held at the Loftus Center of the Notre Dame University campus.
