Gaskill Named To Thirty Under 30 List

Feb. 24, 2009

IOWA CITY – University of Iowa Assistant Volleyball Coach Chris Gaskill has been given the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) “Thirty Under 30 Award.” The announcement was made in the February/March issue of the AVCA Magazine.

The “Thirty Under 30 Award” was established so the volleyball community would spotlight up-and-coming professionals in the sport at all levels of the game, including high school and all NCAA Divisions.

“I am extremely honored to be one of the 30 individuals to receive this award,” Gaskill said. “It’s very humbling to be on this list with so many talented coaches across the country. I still have many things to learn about this sport and I’m very excited to continue my journey through the ranks of coaching volleyball.”

“We are very proud to have Chris receive this honor,” Head Coach Sharon Dingman said. “It is a testament to his hard work and commitment to the coaching profession. Chris is passionate about coaching and it shows in how he conducts himself and how he represents the Hawkeyes.”

Gaskill just completed his first season as an assistant at Iowa and is currently the youngest assistant coach in the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes finished the 2008 season with the program’s most overall wins (14) and conference wins (6) since 2000.
