TORONTO, CANADA — Hawkeye freshman Danielle Carty was recently named to the Canada Games team after her performances at the Canadian Spring National Championships – Short Course Meters in Toronto, Canada, March 11-14. Carty placed third in the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 27.94, and 14th in the 100 back with a time of 1:01.23.
Carty had a strong freshman season with the Hawkeyes, swimming the lead leg on the school-record setting 200-yard medley relay (1:41.33) at the 2009 Big Ten Championships. She also led the team in the 100-yard backstroke (55.31) and swam on the team-leading 400-yard medley relay (3:43.73).
